4. Saint Joseph’s Oratory


Saint Joseph’s Oratory is a Roman Catholic basilica located on the western slope of Mount Royal in Montreal, Quebec. Construction began in 1904 for the Saint Andre Bessette, but then had to be enlarged due to the number of visitors. The dome of the Oratory is the third largest in the world, next to the Basilica of Our Lady of Peace of Yamoussoukro, which is located in Ivory Coast, and the Basilica of Saint Peter, which is located in Rome.

Built by the Canadian Pacific Railway, Chateau Lake Louise is a “relative” according to the Banff Springs Hotel & Chateau Frontenac. With the lake in front of the hotel and a mountain glacier behind it, the views are truly breathtaking. The area around the hotel is part of the Banff National Park, which has also been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

9. Château Frontenac


Chateau Frontenac is a large hotel located in Quebec City overlooking the St. Lawrence. The hotel is called Louis de Baude, Count of Frontenac. He was governor of the colony of New France from 1672 to 1682 and again from 1689 to 1698. Chateau Frontenac first opened in 1893, five years after its sister-hotel, Hotel Banff Springs, opened in Banff National Park, Alberta.
